In Memory
Ruth L. Cornwell
10-12-21 to 1-25-10

Ruth Cornwell in life was a truly generous person sharing her gifts with so many. Ruth established a scholarship in memory of her beloved husband Webster Cornwell which will benefit seniors graduating from Hammond High School for generations to come. Ruth never sought attention for her generosity and in fact liked to keep a "very low profile" in the community. From time to time she would make visits to the organizations she supported. The Boys & Girls Club of Hammond, the Challenger Learning Center, and the Dunes Learning Center all benefited from Ruth's generosity and will continue to serve children through funds established by Ruth. The Hammond Public Library had a special place in Ruth's heart as she and Web in the evenings would read the newspapers in the periodical room.

A quiet, witty, and kind person, Ruth personified love of her community in a behind the scenes approach. She believed in family, hard work, honesty, and over the years winning and preserving friendships. Ruth will be missed but her caring for children and families will live on through her generosity.

Investment and Foundation Fees
There are now more than 230 separate funds managed by Legacy Foundation. The Foundation uses a sound investment strategy designed to maintain the principal balance—those gifts and contributions received from the public—while maximizing the return on these investments for grant-making and future growth purposes. In this manner, endowment gifts become expressions of caring that keep on giving forever.

All of the endowment funds of Legacy Foundation are pooled for investment purposes. They are carefully, expertly, and responsibly managed in a balanced portfolio. Legacy Foundation utilizes Fund Evaluation Group’s investment
management services. The cost of providing services to endowment funds is calculated as 1% of the balance for funds under $1 million in size. These fees do not include investment management fees which are approximately 0.83% (i.e. 83 basis points). Support fees include the cost of Legacy Foundation’s staff confirming the appropriate use of granted funds, board oversight of grantmaking and other shared administrative costs such as accounting, communication, and reporting services.
