Most funds at Legacy Foundation are endowed, providing a permanent source of funding for the community. Each year, 5% of the average fund balance of these endowed funds is available for grantmaking, with the remaining principal serving as a renewable source of charitable giving forever.

Unrestricted Funds: Committees comprised of community-minded leaders review the candidates, conduct site visits, and make funding recommendations.

Field of Interest Funds: Donors determine the specific area of charitable concern and grants are made from the fund accordingly, at the discretion of the Foundation Board.

Donor-Advised Funds: Flexible tool for charitable giving allowing donors to be actively involved in grantmaking, with as little or as much help as desired.

Scholarships: Typically award grants for tuition to deserving students, based on criteria defined by the establishing donor.

Designated Funds: Provide a source of permanent funding to benefit one or more charitable organizations designated by donors.

Organization Endowments: Established by an organization to provide a source of permanent fiscal support for the on-going operational needs of that organization.
