Barbara Miller Meeker Art Scholarship
Established by Barbara Meeker, a respected local artist, to encourage Munster High School seniors pursuing the visual arts.

Scholarship Amount: $ 500
Number of Awards: One (1)
Eligibility: Munster High School senior and pursuing a career in visual art or architecture. GPA is also considered.

D.J. and Rose Nidetz Scholarship
Established to benefit a student studying the arts.

Scholarship Amount: $ 500
Number of Awards: One (1)
Eligibility: Chosen field of study is the arts: art, music, theater, dance; involved in a Community Theater production with a current NIETF Theater.
Deadline: June 15th

Donna K. Yundt Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of a beloved teacher in the Lake Central Schools. This scholarship is awarded to a student who attended Peifer Elementary.

Scholarship Amount: $ 2,500

Eligibility: Lake Central High School Senior who attended Peifer Elementary. Must complete Dollars for Scholars application.

Dr. John Maniotes Scholarship
Established to benefit the children or grandchildren of current employees of Lake County, Indiana, at the Government Center in Crown Point or another site.

Scholarship Amount: $2,500

Eligibility: Child or grandchild of current employee of Lake County, IN Government Center.

Dr. R. T. White Scholarship
Established in memory of a beloved principal at Elliott Elementary School and is awarded each year to a graduating student from Munster High School who attended Elliott Elementary.

Scholarship Amount: $750.00

Hammond Common Council Scholarship
Awarded to seniors graduating from high schools located in Hammond.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000

IBEW Local Union #697 Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2002. Is awarded in memory of deceased members of IBEW Local #697 and benefits the children of Local #697.

John V. and George Primich Family Scholarship
Established in 2005, benefits the children or grandchildren of current employees of G.W. Berkheimer Co. and South Central.

Scholarship Amount: minimum of $2,500
Number of Awards: Depends on number of applicants
Eligibility: Children or grandchildren of current employees of G.W. Berkheimer Co. and South Central.

Joseph Trent Morrow/Urban League of NW Indiana Scholarship
Established to enable students from Hammond, Gary, and East Chicago to pursue educational dreams they might have believed unattainable.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Number of Awards: One (1)
Eligibility: Applicants must be graduating high school seniors and reside in Gary, Hammond or East Chicago, Indiana; have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; plan to attend either Indiana University or Indiana University Northwest and pursue a career in either law or banking.
Deadline: May 14, 2010

Joshua Benjamin Cohen Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Max and Susan Cohen in memory of their beloved son Joshua. This renewable scholarship is awarded to graduating students from Valparaiso High School who demonstrate a high standard of leadership, academic performance, athletic performance and financial need.

Scholarship Amount: $2,000 year one and $1,000 after that
Number of Awards: up to two (2)

June Pangburn Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of June, who served as the Director of Nursing at St. Mary's Hospital (Hobart) and as a mentor to many nursing students. This scholarship benefits a Hobart High School Senior studying Nursing or Allied Health.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Number of Awards: One (1)
Eligibility: Hobart High School Senior studying Nursing or Allied Health

Lake County Athletic Officials Association Scholarship
Established to award scholarships for Lake County Athletic Official members and their children who are attending any accredited four year institution.

Scholarship Amount: $500

Eligibility: Lake County Athletic Official members and their children
Deadline: March 12, 2010

Lake County Bar Association Scholarship
Established to award scholarships to law students who are permanent residents of Lake County, Indiana.

Scholarship Amount: up to $1,750

Eligibility: Current law student who is a permanent resident of Lake County, Indiana

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for 2010
This prestigious, full-tuition, renewable scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors of Lake County high schools and is based upon academic achievement, leadership, service to others, financial need, a written narrative and an interview.

Scholarship Amount: Full tuition at an Indiana College of your choice
And up to $800 a year for books and required equipment
Number of Awards: Up to 8 for Lake County, Indiana

Nancy J. Pinnick Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Pinnick family to continually recognize her dedication and work as an educator in a meaningful and dignified way. Nancy knew first hand the challenges many children face in pursuing college.

Eligibility: River Forest High School Senior with a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Patrick Lindsey Memorial Scholarship
Established by family and friends in memory of Patrick who was a talented and generous musician.

Scholarship Amount: $500

Eligibility: Graduating minority senior from a Lake County High School with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. Course of undergraduate study must be
in visual art, theater, music, or dance.

Roger Begnoche Scholarship
Established to encourage a young man to pursue a career in education or nursing at Purdue University Calumet. This scholarship was named for a mentor and coach.

Scholarship Amount: $4,000 / year
Number of Awards: One (1)
Eligibility: Male resident of Indiana, accepted as a full-time freshman student at Purdue University Calumet into the Scholl of Nursing or expect to pursue a degree in education; for SAT minimum requirements see application.

Schrage Family Scholarship
Established by Centier Bank in 1995, this is a renewable scholarship awarded to students who have achieved academic excellence and leadership in the community and in their schools. It is awarded to a graduating senior in each of the communities served by Centier Bank.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 a year for 4 years (paid $500 a semester)

Webster Cornwell Memorial Scholarship
Established by Ruth Cornwell in memory of her husband. This renewable scholarship is awarded each year to a student graduating from Hammond High School.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000/year for 4 years
Number of Awards: One (1)
Eligibility: Graduating senior from Hammond High School with a GPA of 2.5 or better and enrolled in a program of study leading to an associate or bachelor degree at an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.

Established by the Board of Directors of Legacy Foundation to provide scholarship to employees of Lake Area United Way Agencies or employees of a nonprofit agency that has an endowment fund with Legacy Foundation.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 (renewable)
Number of Awards: up to two (2)
Eligibility: Employed by Lake Area United Way Agency or with a nonprofit
agency that has an endowment fund with Legacy Foundation and is
pursuing an undergraduate degree. (List of agencies is part of application.)

Legends Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student who is attending one of the six educational institutions in Northwest Indiana (see application). It is based upon the four values of the Welcome Center's "Celebrate Northwest Indiana Wall": exploration, courage, creativity and innovation. Scholarship Brochure PDF

Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Number of Awards: One (1)
Eligibility: Enrolled in one of these six educational institutions in Northwest
Indiana: Calumet College of St. Joseph, Indiana University Northwest, Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Northwest, Purdue University Calumet, Purdue University North Central, and Valparaiso University; and completed at least 12 credit hours.
